Intended Use
This test card is designed for human ABO blood grouping (forward typing) and Rh(D) blood grouping test. This product is not suitable for blood source screening purposes.

Red blood cell antigens can be classified into several blood group systems based on their properties and genetic relationships. Routine clinical tests typically include the ABO and Rh systems. In the ABO system, red blood cells containing A antigens are classified as type A, those with B antigens as type B, those with both A and B antigens as AB, and those without A or B antigens as type O. The antibodies in the ABO system are regular antibodies, and the plasma contains ABO system antibodies that are compatible with the ABO blood group system antigens on red blood cell surfaces.

The Rh system, closely related to clinical practice, includes the Rh antigens C, c, D, E, and e, with the D antigen being the most antigenic. The ABO system is the most immunogenic blood group systemin humans, characterized by the presence of strong-reacting antibodies in the serum and the absence of corresponding antigens on red blood cells. Many tissue secretions also regularly contain A, B, or H antigens. These unique characteristics make the ABO blood group system the most important blood grouping system in blood transfusion and organ transplantation. Before clinical blood transfusion, both the recipient's and donor's blood samples must be tested for ABO blood type (forward and reverse typing) and Rh(D) blood type.
